My wife Kim is the love of my life. She’s a beautiful, intelligent, funny and tremendously loving woman, a patient and wise mother, an incredibly talented and caring teacher, and she puts up with all my crazy bullshit and is incredibly supportive of my artistic endeavors. She’s had a rough weekend with trying to finish her final thesis (as if her plate wasn’t full enough already) and taking care of Emily while I’ve been working and going crazy, so I thought I’d give a little back. I love you baby!
Anyway, this is my second iPhone painting. The first one, as you may recall, was a crappy little entry I drew on an app called finger paint. I wasn’t very impressed with the results. But I recently read an article about how the cover of last month’s New Yorker magazine was done in an app called Brushes, so I downloaded it and gave it a shot. It’s pretty robust, allowing you to use multiple layers, transparencies, almost infinite zoom levels, various brushes, and even import photos to trace (which I did; it’s not as helpful as you would think.)
I think the results came out pretty good, especially since every painting I’ve ever done has been terrible. I can see a lot of things I could keep working on, but this took me more than a few hours to do, so I’m calling it a day. Hopefully Kim will like it… =)
